My true story, in a quick 25.

1. I am a huge hypocrite. I don’t like that about myself, and am trying to fix it. I am trying to take my own advice instead of making excuses.
2. I’m scared of change. I generally only show it behind closed doors.
3. I love to smile and laugh. A lot.
4. My family is huge to me. My closest friends included. If you cannot accept them, we will probably have a problem.
5. One of my biggest fears is disappointing others, but I’m even more scared of disappointing myself.
6. I tend to care too much about what other people think of me.
7. I can get kind of crazy, but in a good way.
8. I enjoy most- if not all- sports. I love spending hours tossing around a football or kicking a soccer ball around.
9. I believe that there is a huge difference between loving someone and being in love with someone.
10. I love to help. I wish I was able to help out in a more meaningful way more often.
11. I’m really quiet when I first meet new people, but I enjoy making new friends.
12. I wish I had kept up dance, singing and gymnastics.
13. I love running in the rain. I feel refreshed, invigorated, renewed and it helps me clear my head.
14. I keep a journal for when I want to write creatively, or have something on my mind.
15. I love my music. I go for the lyrics or beat. It allows me to have a song to match my exact mood. 16. I consider the bond I have with all my siblings special and unique. Despite distance and age, I cherish them all and don’t know what I would do without them. Just like many of my friends are my family, my siblings are my friends.
17. If I ever got in trouble in school, it was for reading during math class.
18. Some of my favourite memories are from the cottage with my family.
19. I really enjoy bowling, miniature golf, and skating despite that fact that I am not very good at any of them. It gives me a chance to learn, grow, and laugh at myself.
20. I sometimes wonder about the world in ways many people do not understand.
21. I believe in true love and happily ever after’s. I want it. And I hope I will be lucky enough to have a family by the time I am 30.
22. Even though it drained my savings account, I’m happy I had the opportunity to go experience and enjoy Italy and Paris, France; even at the fast pace it was traveled at.
23. My grandparents are the greatest people I know
24. I love playing games with my family when we are all together.
25. I love nature. The simplicity in nature compared to society appeals to me. I find it serene and full of beauty.

It's all about perspective

I found myself earlier reflecting on yesterday - was it a bad day, or was it a good day? I don't usually label my days as bad or good, to be clear, but yesterday wasn't a regular day. Niagara Falls, Ontario The short of it: I had an anxiety attack, in the rain, in downtown London, on the way to an event with my partner who had yet to witness an attack. The works - tears, hyperventilation, nervous energy and jitters. But to truly elaborate the perspective bit, there is a longer story to it.  I think it's important to add context, to shape why it was a matter of a bad day vs good day. So here we go.

Consistently Inconsistent

I've certainly proven that I'm unable to regularly journal or blog. That I'm pulled to write when things are bad or awry or beyond my control, but rarely in a time where I feel joy, happiness or am at peace with things. We all know I'm here, journaling again, because I'm in my head. Feeling. Reflecting. Likely overthinking. As to be expected - consistently inconsistent.  I've been pushing myself for months now. Focusing on doing more, achieving more, earning more, finding more....always more . And I am so t i r e d. Somewhere along the way of trying to redefine myself and achieve goals I had set for myself, I lost sight of why I was doing things. What was motivating me. Why I set these goals.

Vulnerability

For the past few days, perhaps even a week now, I have been tossing and turning many ideas through my head of what to blog about.  I even was able to get a draft going on the value of actions vs words, but it just doesn't feel finished yet. I finally came up with a concept. Vulnerability. I know most of us know what vulnerability is, or what it means to be vulnerable, but in case anyone is looking for clarification, Webster's dictionary defines vulnerable as "capable of being physically or emotionally wounded; open to attack or damage." So many of us spend our lives running from being vulnerable, from trying to protect ourselves because we simply don't want to be hurt.  I'm not talking just about relationships here, but everything.  Some of us don't like to have pets, because eventually a bond is created and that makes us open to pain, especially knowing that odds are we will outlive our pets.  It also pertains to careers- many of us stay inside the ...
